When you think of Formula One power couples, elegancy incarnate comes to mind like Charles and Alexandra Leclerc. But not every couple chooses to be in the spotlight. McLaren driver Oscar Piastri and his girlfriend, Lily Zneimer, are a wonderful example of a relationship perfectly kept secret in such a larger-than-life industry.

Oscar met Lily when they were 17 studying at Haileybury boarding school in Hertford, England. Oscar, an Aussie pursuing a racing career, and Lily, a Brit excelling at her studies of engineering, started dating their second-to-last year of school. The couple have been together ever since!

While Lily keeps a very low profile, with her Instagram account being private, multiple sources say that Lily is looking to start an engineering career in Formula One. With the connection of her significant other being a successful driver in the sport, Lily has quite an opportunity! But not just because of her boyfriend, Lily is a genius in her own right! In 2018, Lily was one of few students attending her boarding school who received one of the best GCSE exam scores out of the school’s entire history! That’s a different level of smart! Lily is perfectly capable of securing a job in the sport if she wishes to do so!

Lily supports Oscar in small but mighty contributions. She doesn’t come to every Grand Prix, but when she makes an appearance it’s extra special for Oscar! With Lily being as humble and away from the fame as she is, Oscar has said that she keeps him grounded. I can imagine that staying grounded in a high intensity and fast paced world would be extremely difficult, so the fact that Oscar has a girlfriend that is able to offer that comfort and down-to-earth reminder is so important!

With Oscar recently having a wasp named after him, his girlfriend being named after a flower couldn’t be more perfect! Oscar and Lily are a wonderful example of strong and sensible love, a type of love I hope all of us can find someday!
