Article and Interview conducted by Finley Ever
The love for high speeds and the thrill of going fast is a universal experience, but there are a number of individuals who took their love for racing and managed to turn it into a career. One such racer is Harri Reynolds, a GT Racing Driver who is racing around Europe this year in European & French GT4, and I had the privilege of asking him some questions about his career earlier today.
The Interview
Finley: Who introduced you to motorsports and at what age did you decide you wanted them to be an aspect of your life?
Reynolds: My dad is the reason I got into motorsport and where I am today. He used to rally and has had some great success over the years! When I was 10, I got my first kart, and that’s when I knew that’s what I wanted to do! There was nothing else that came close to the thrill and enjoyment I got from motorsport.
Finley: In your career, where do you see yourself ten years from now?
Reynolds: 10 years from now, I’d hope to of made racing my full-time profession. I’d be around the age of 30, so to have raced in Le Mans, WEC, DTM, these sorts of championships are what I’m aiming for! As long as I continue to enjoy it as much as I do today!
Finley: Competing in the GT4 European Series, what is a defining moment in your journey that you think most helped you get to this point?
Reynolds: I tested the McLaren at the end of 2023, that was a turning point for me with the success of that day. I then completed a round of the GT4 Winter Series at the start of this year, the success continued. Between myself and my co-driver, we took home podiums in all three races, front rows in qualifying and all-around pace. We spoke to the Elite Motorsport team in further conversation when we decided we’d take on the challenge! It would also be down to the learning I had done in other series, such as Ginetta Juniors, GB4, and British F4 to put me in the right position to jump straight into a GT4.
Finley: Finally, do you have any pre-race rituals that get you into the right mindset?
Reynolds: To be honest, no. Lots of drivers have to wear lucky socks or underwear. For me, it’s ensuring I have gone through the data with the team beforehand, done a proper warm up and overall made sure I have put myself in the best position when the lights go out!
Thank you so much for your time, Harri! Looking forward to seeing where your racing journey takes you.
