upcoming karting talent: an interview with Stephen eisert

Article by Finley Ever

Formula 1 is the absolute Pinnacle of Motorsport, so of course, it’s the level of racing you hear talked about the most. But while insanely fast and thrilling, F1 is just the tip of the Motorsports iceberg. Karting is a massive industry with over 5,000 teen and young adult racers in the US today. An active participant in this high intensity sport, Stephen Eisert, agreed to elaborate a little more on this world that is so foreign to many people.

the interview

Finley: To start us off would you introduce yourself and tell me what the level of Motorsports is that you compete in?

Stephen: My name is Stephen Eisert, an 18-year-old racing driver for SpeedSense Motorsports. I compete in National Karting championships across the USA.

Finley: When and how did you get into Karting?

Stephen: I got into Karting when I was 6 from one of my cousins that raced back then, I was also very interested in Nascar and Formula 1.

Finley: Who are your Motorsports inspirations?

Stephen: I would say Aryton Senna and Max Verstappen. Senna was such a legend on and off the track, and I love Max’s mentality as person and he’s also a great driver.

Finley: What is your ultimate goal in this sport?

Stephen: When I was younger I had the same goals as every other driver, and that was to race in Formula One. But unfortunately, you need to be backed by multimillionaires for F1 and that just wasn’t possible for me. My new goals are to help the younger generation of drivers and make it to GT Racing.

Finley: What has been your favorite or best result in your career so far?

Stephen: Back in 2023, I won Rok Vegas which is the second biggest Karting race in US Karting. That really gave me a name in the Karting world which helped me get a ride with Sodi Racing USA for the next season. I then went on to win a few more National races with them.

Finley: And finally, what is the most important lesson you have learned from Motorsports that helps you in your everyday life?

Stephan: The most important lesson I’ve learned is to never give up. There’s been many times where I’ve felt like quitting but you never know what will happen next.

Thank you for your time again Stephen and good wishes for the future!

Talented racers across the world all hope and dream of getting into F1, but the reality is that it’s not only insanely expensive, but it’s also one of the hardest professions to get into. That’s why it’s important to not only support the big leagues but also the local racers who just want to go fast!
