Hello everyone! Sorry for pulling a Daniel Ricciardo and totally leaving you guys hanging for 3 weeks! I had the privilege of spending the last few weeks in Europe, but I’m home now which means back to the articles! Since two F1 Grand Prix took place while I was away (one of which being the Italian Grand Prix which was two hours away from me) it would take way too long to write a qualifying and race article for both races, considering that each article takes 1-2 hours to write. So, I figured the best way to still write them but make it easier on myself would be to consolidate the races into the results and how each driver achieved those results!
the dutch grand prix results
- Oscar Piastri (McLaren)— secured Pole Position in qualifying, held onto first the whole race, secured the win
- Max Verstappen (Red Bull)—took P2 from Lando within the first lap, lost P2 to Lando in the 9th lap, advanced to 2nd when Lando retired, took home second place at his home race
- Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls)—advanced to third when Norris retired, first podium for the French rookie!
- George Russell (Mercedes)—attempted to go around the outside and claim 4th from Hadjar but was unsuccessful in lap 27, banged wheels with Leclerc in lap 32 and lost 5th position,
- Alex Albon (Williams)—lost 7th position to Antonelli in lap 34, regained 7th when Antonelli went in for tires in lap 52,
- Ollie Bearman (Haas)—overtook Gasly for 8th in lap 63,
- Lance Stroll (Aston Martin)
- Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin)
- Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull)
- Esteban Ocon (Haas)
- Franco Colapinto (Alpine)
- Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls)—made contact with Sainz whilst fighting over the better position into turn 1 of lap 27,
- Carlos Sainz (Williams)—made contact with Lawson in turn 1 of lap 27, received penalty over collision,
- Nico Hulkenberg (Sauber)
- Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber)
- Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes)—goes around the inside and claims 7th from Albon in lap 34, lost 7th to Albon when he pitted in lap 52, made a wide turn and collided with Leclerc which sent the Ferrari into the wall, 10 second penalty issued for the collision,
- Pierre Gasly (Alpine)—lost 8th to Bearman in lap 63
- Lando Norris (McLaren) (DNF)— lost P2 to Max within the first lap, got P2 back in lap 9, car started smoking in lap 65, car retired in the same lap
- Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) (DNF)—pitted for new tires in lap 23 and lost around 5 places, went in a wheel-to-wheel battle with Russell and came out in 5th in lap 32, pitted in lap 53 for soft tires and came out right in front of Antonelli, Antonelli made a wide turn and sent him into the wall a few seconds after his pit exit,
- Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) (DNF)—collided with the barrier in lap 23 after a turn that was took too wide,
If the places in the descriptions don’t match up with the positions the drivers are in, many penalties were issued and drivers retired from the race which switched up the whole grid without any overtakes!
