breaking news: Christian horner to exit red bull with immediate effect

Even though there isn’t a Grand Prix on the calendar for 3 weeks (unfortunately), the world of Formula 1 never slows, the drama never slows. On this fateful Wednesday, Red Bull Racing announced that their team principal of 20 years, Christian Horner, will depart from the team immediately.

This has been coming from quite some time now, considering that Red Bull publicly said a little while ago that he was going to leave the team, we just didn’t figure it would happen this quickly!

Christian Horner has been in hot water recently. Before the start of the 2024 racing season, allegations were made from a female co-worker. Saying he used “inappropriate and coercive behavior” with her. Many believe that the sudden urgency to sack the man who helped Red Bull enter into F1 has to do with these allegations coming back to bite him in the rear!

The end of the Christian Horner era is over. He brought 8 Drivers World Championships, 6 Constructors Championships, 124 Wins, 107 Pole Positions, and 287 Podium finishes. With the end of this era, a new one will begin.

Laurent Mekies, the Racing Bulls Team Principal, is set to take over Horner’s role as Red Bull’s CEO. Laurent is no stranger to F1. He first made his debut at Arrows in 2001. After that he had a role in Minardi, Toro Rosso, the FIA, Ferrari, Racing Bulls, and now, Red Bull! We shall definitely see more of him in the near future!

Amid rumors of Red Bull driver Max Verstappen leaving the team to join Mercedes, Red Bull is going through quite a tough time right now. Currently 4th in the Constructor’s Championship battle, the reign of Red Bull seems to be coming to an end, but hopefully with some new perspectives, the Austrian company’s dominancy will make a comeback!
