the race

It’s lights out and away we go under the Miami sun, or clouds, for that matter! Max Verstappen leads the race followed by Lando Norris and rookie Kimi Antonelli! Once the five red lights go out, the race is already intense! Max Verstappen holds onto the lead but is quickly being hunted down by the Brit in Papaya. Verstappen finds himself in a predicament with his brakes locking up, giving Norris a bit of an advantage, but Verstappen quickly recovers and is going tire to tire against his racing rival. Verstappen holds on and Norris is over-took by the Italian 18 year-old. Lando’s luck from the last Miami grand prix seems to be running out! He drops down to 6th position. Uh Oh! We can’t even make it a lap without the yellow flag being brought out! At the back of the race, Liam Lawson and Jack Doohan bump cars, resulting in Doohan having to retire his car. Once the green flag waves, the cars immediately resume the race! Kimi Antonelli, the rookie Mercedes driver who scored sprint pole a few days earlier, holds onto second, but the Man from Melbourne has something to say about it! Oscar Piastri takes second! Like his teammate, Lando Norris is also making the move to jump up a space. He passes Williams driver Alex Albon and takes 5th. Both Williams drivers find themselves neck and neck with each-other, seeming to wait and see if their engineers will allow them to race one another, and they do! Carlos Sainz passes his teammate and scores 6th!

In lap 7, Lando Norris gains speed and catches up to George Russell. The Mercedes driver makes a wide turn and in goes Norris! Lando to 4th. Only two laps later, the British McLaren driver is again within passing distance of a Mercedes car! Lando passes Antonelli and moves to third! Max Verstappen is desperately trying to hold onto first, but Piastri is hot on his tail, only 3 thousandths of a second behind him!

In lap 10, Fernando Alonso retires as a racecar driver and becomes a ballerina, pirouetting on the track, but he somehow controls himself and comes out of retirement to finish the race! One lap later, Aussie Oscar Piastri is closing in on the lead. Piastri makes the move to pass Verstappen, but the Red Bull racer drives defensively and pushes Piastri back to second. It’s only a matter of time before he tries again, though! Only two laps later, Piastri is once again going into battle for first! Max holds onto first for a couple turns but the Aussie is persistent! Piastri barely takes the lead when Verstappen steals it back, only for his brakes to lock up so Piastri can take the lead yet again! Oscar Piastri to first! Now Max Vertsappen has to worry about the other McLaren driver, Norris is fast approaching and looking to score a Papaya 1-2! Norris inches slightly ahead but then Verstappen gets a burst of speed and forces them to be wheel to wheel! Who will push foward and leave the other in their dirty air? It looks like it’s going to be Verstappen! Only two laps later, another battle between the Dutchman and the Brit breaks out! It’s the closest that Lando has ever been to being able to pass Verstappen. He passes him, but off the track, so an inspection will be brought about to see if Norris kept all four tires on the road, but before the race monitors could comment on it, Max Verstappen almost runs into the back of Lando’s car! Thankfully, no damage was caused! Lando goes late on the brakes and in goes Max Verstappen back to second. It is definitely a possibility that Lando knew he exceeded track limits to pass Max so he gave the place back. So even if he was breaking the rules, he won’t receive a penalty because he gives back 2nd to Max.

Yet again, Lando makes the move to take second from Max, this time fair and square, and he does so! Lando to second! Now the only obstacle in the Papaya driver’s way is none other than his teammate in first!

In lap 28, Haas driver Oliver Bearman starts to slow down and pull off the track, possible engine failure. Unfortunately, the British driver has to retire his car. Virtual safety car is deployed.

At the end of the safety car, George Russell enters the pit lane. Once George finally starts to exit the pit lane after a slow stop, Max is right there waiting for him, but Russell isn’t about to give up third position! He exits the pit lane just in time to come out before Verstappen.

In lap 31, we find Alex Albon and Kimi Antonelli at the start of an on-track battle. Albon makes to pass Antonelli but is unsuccessful, Kimi holds onto his place but takes a wide turn, sending Albon into 5th! At the same time of Albon’s overtake, his teammate Carlos Sainz also passed another car, and that car is none other than his ex teammate Charles Leclerc. Sainz to 7th!

Yet another safety car is deployed when Stake driver Gabriel Bortoleto has to retire his car, the third rookie of the race!

Once the green flag flies, Sainz struggles to hold onto 7th, Charles Leclerc passes him but is quickly passed yet again by Carlos. The new Williams driver is tailed by both cars from his former team, Ferrari. Carlos and Charles go wheel to wheel in a battle to see who will take 7th. Leclerc receives DRS but doesn’t have time to enable it because through comes Hamilton! He barely passes both cars when Charles regains the lead over the 7-time world champion!

In the last lap of the Miami grand prix, Oscar Piastri sees the checkered flag first! Oscar Piastri wins the Miami grand prix, three victories in a row for the Aussie! He is followed by his teammate Lando Norris in second and George Russell in third! Piastri takes home the Miami trophy and McLaren takes home a 1-2 victory for the team!

What an exciting race! I surely enjoyed every minute of it! Hopefully if you weren’t able to watch the race live this article kept you in the loop! I also highly recommend watching the highlights of every grand prix, sprint race, qualifying, and every other F1 activity on YouTube. The Formula 1 YouTube channel really breaks down the races into the most important parts so you don’t have to spend your whole weekend watching F1, but that’s only if you have something better to do. My entire weekend consist of F1and I’m proud of it!!

I’ll see you at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix! xx
