the saudi arabian grand prix

Hello everyone! Here we are once again! The Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was held last weekend, here is everything you need to know!

the race

Max Verstappen started the race in pole position followed by Oscar Piastri and George Russell. It’s lights out and away we go! Max and Oscar quickly started fighting for that coveted lead. Oscar barely made it past Max when Max made the risky move to exceed track limits to stay in the lead. This, of course, is not allowed. So, Max was put under investigation and either had to give up his first-place position to Oscar who rightfully passed him or receive a five-second penalty. Max Verstappen being Max Verstappen chose the five-second penalty. Old teammates Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda crashed into each-other in the first lap, sending out the safety car.

Throughout the safety car deployment and the race getting underway again, Max held onto the lead. George Russell tried to pass the man from Melbourne to make it into second place, but was unsuccessful.

Lando Norris continues to astound everyone with his amazing driving skills. The papaya driver started the race in 10th but quickly started climbing in the ranks, gaining 3 positions in the span of just one lap! Lando and Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton had quite the feud in laps 13,14, and 15! Lando, 7th, passed Lewis, 6th, in lap 13. Lewis quickly regained his original position, sending Lando back to 7th. In lap 14, Lando yet again tried to pass Lewis, he was successful for a couple of seconds, but then the 7-time world champion passed him yet again! In lap 15, Lando officially passed Lewis, this time for good!

Young Kimi Antonelli was unfortunately passed by the outstanding Lando Norris, sending him into 6th, still the best position for any of the rookies!

McLaren brought in Oscar for a pit stop in lap 20, giving him an advantage over Max who was yet to pit and change his tires. Oscar exited the pit lane and dropped a couple of positions, but regained them quickly on his new set of tires. Just like his teammate, Lando continued to pass his competitors and is now P3 at this time in the race.

Max finally pitted in lap 22. Along with getting new tires, Max also had to serve his 5-second penalty. During this time, Charles Leclerc took the lead!

At the back of the race, Gabriel Bortoleto barely clipped Fernando Alonso’s car. Luckily, the minor mistake didn’t send Alonso into the wall, but he still asked his engineers to check for damage to the car.

Leclerc unfortunately wasn’t able to hold onto first for very long, given that he took the lead before he had his tires changed, so he dropped back to 5th after pitting. Oscar took back 1st with his teammate close behind in second. Lando pitted, sending Max into second place, like releasing a lion to hunt down its prey, although Oscar won’t give up that easy! He holds onto first.

Charles passed George Russell, advancing to third. I can smell a podium for the driver in red!

Lando then takes fourth place from George, seems like the Brit can’t catch a break!
