If you are new to the world of Formula 1, it’s very common for more educated fans to ask you if you know what DRS is. It is a common but very annoying question, along with people accusing you of only liking the sport because the drivers are very handsome, but that’s an article for a different day. So, I’m going to teach you what DRS is and how to work your way around this question!
DRS
DRS stands for ‘drag reduction system’. It’s a technology used in F1 cars to decrease drag and make the vehicle more aerodynamic, allowing a car to go much faster than it usually would. Although, DRS isn’t always engaged. It can only be activated during a race when a driver is directly one second behind the car in front of it. DRS can be engaged so that the car behind can overtake the car ahead.

I have found many videos of women talking about how men always want to prove that they don’t know anything about the sport by asking them what DRS is. Many women do know, but choose to mess with the person asking them the question by responding “It stands for ‘Daniel Ricciardo Supremacy’”. Daniel Ricciardo is a retired Formula 1 driver that is well known for his hilarious personality and bright smile. Responding “Danny Ric Supremacy” is so much more satisfying than actually answering the question. So, if anyone decides to test your knowledge, it will be nice to know that you know what DRS is, but if you would prefer to play the Daniel Ricciardo card, go for it!
